Pineapple Mint, Fragrance in the Garden

Pineapple Mint is a very fragrant plant. Like all mints, it spreads readily by runners or cuttings, and it will quickly fill an area with lovely green or variegated foliage. The aroma of this plant is very heady on warm summer days. Just brushing against it sends up a fruity-clean smell.

It imparts a fruity pineapple flavor to teas, or you can use it in potpourris for a sweet scent dried.  Add a leaf or two to a fruit cup or fruit punch.

Pineapple Mint is a good container plant if you want to control its spreading habit. It overwinters in the ground here in southern Indiana, but in a container I would give it  additional protection.
